North Texas winters are mild most days, until a cold front blows through and your heater won't start. AC and Heat LLC repairs gas furnaces, electric furnaces and air handlers with heat strips for homes and businesses across Wylie, Rockwall, Garland, Plano and nearby cities, day or night.
Common heating problems
- The blower runs but the air coming out is cold
- The furnace tries to light, then shuts off
- Short cycling: the heat turns on and off over and over
- Rattling, scraping or loud booming when it starts
- Some rooms are warm while others stay cold
- The thermostat is blank or doesn't respond
A faint dusty smell the first time you turn the heat on each fall is normal; it is dust burning off. If the smell lingers or smells like burning plastic or wiring, turn the system off and call us.
Safety first
If you smell gas, do not flip switches or try to relight anything. Leave the house and call your gas utility or 911 from outside. Every home with a gas furnace should have working carbon monoxide detectors. A cracked heat exchanger or blocked vent can leak carbon monoxide, which is one reason a yearly heating check is worth it.
What we check
We look at the whole system: thermostat and wiring, filter and airflow, igniter and flame sensor, burners, gas valve, blower motor, limit and safety switches, and the vent pipe. We find the cause, explain it in plain English and fix it. If your home uses a heat pump instead of a furnace, we service those too.
The best time to catch a weak part is before the first cold snap. A fall heating tune-up gives us a chance to spot problems early. If your furnace is near the end of its life, we can talk through replacement honestly.
