AC & Heating Maintenance and Tune-Ups in Wylie, TX

Preventative and seasonal maintenance to keep your system running when you need it most.

Sky-high summer bills or an AC that can't keep up on hot afternoons are often signs that the system needs a tune-up. Preventative maintenance is the simplest way to keep an air conditioner or heater running well. Our maintenance program is designed to:

  • Reduce the chance of an air conditioning or heating breakdown
  • Reduce your utility and repair costs
  • Give you preferential emergency service if you ever need it
  • Keep or improve your current level of comfort

When to schedule

Schedule the air conditioner in spring, before the first heat wave, and the heater in fall, before the first cold front. Heat pumps run all year, so they benefit from a visit each season. We also offer seasonal contracts that are all-inclusive should the need arise. Ask about them when you call.

What a tune-up typically covers

  • Checking thermostat operation and settings
  • Inspecting electrical connections, capacitors and contactors
  • Checking refrigerant pressures and temperatures
  • Cleaning or inspecting coils and the condensate drain
  • Checking blower and fan motors and airflow
  • For gas heat: burners, ignition, flame sensor, safety switches and venting

Coil cleaning: before & after

These photos are from our recent tune-ups. When the outdoor coil is matted with dirt, the system can’t get rid of heat well, so it runs at higher pressure, works harder and puts extra wear on the compressor. A clean coil helps the AC run more efficiently and can help the compressor last longer.

What you can do between visits

Change or clean your air filter every one to three months, more often with pets or during pollen season. Keep about two feet clear around the outdoor unit and rinse off grass clippings with a garden hose, with the power off. Keep supply and return vents open and unblocked. If you are unsure which filter to buy, see our indoor air quality and filters page.

If a tune-up turns up a worn part, we will explain it and give you the choice of repairing it now or keeping an eye on it.
